Shri KG Balakrishnan

Shri KG Balakrishnan, aged 79, is B. Com., B.L., from Madras University. He is the first son of late Shri K Govindaswamy Naidu who founded the KG Group in Coimbatore. He joined the family business even during his studies and was instrumental in building the KG Group. He brought about forward integration of the family business - from a mere cotton business trading to yarn spinning, weaving, processing, garmenting, retailing and to diversification in to engineering, education, entertainment and medical service, software and information technology.
He is widely traveled and is well known in industrial, commercial, banking, business and social circles. A good philanthropist and has contributed to a number of social and religious causes.
He was the President of the Coimbatore Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 12 years and the founder President of the Coimbatore Stock Exchange.He brought about significant developments and improvements for Coimbatore in creating infrastructure and safeguarding its ecology. He was awarded the "Citizen of the Decade" award by the Lions Club International. He has held senior positions in various trade and industry related bodies and had led several business delegations to various countries.
